Sharkfinger

Bio:  SHARKFINGER is an original rock band from Padre Island, Texas. Its three members include Rick Smith on drums, Russell Ellis on bass/vocals, and Derek Burgess on guitar/vocals. All three have been friends on the Island for years, and decided to start jamming together on a whim. Russell and Derek thought they were retired from the live music scene, but together with Rick they find themselves doing their thing once again. 
Russell spent many years in Austin with playing with AggroRhythm, Fluid and other bands in the area before fishing brought him South. Derek spent years playing bass locally with bands like First Choice, the Shades and Papafunk before switching to guitar for Sharkfinger. Rick Smith got a set of drums for Christmas many years back, and hasn't stopped drumming since. He is a certified lunatic who enjoys both real and fake wrestling. 
In 2010, at Obelisk Industries, Sharkfinger recorded their debut album, Hooked Up, to be released on August 14th at the Padre Island Burger Company. Sharkfinger is stumped every time they are asked to describe their sound. Surf-rock punk pop? South Texas Fishing Rock? Who knows? You decide.
